Reasonable Deadlines

Homeowners have received letters from Southern Property Management giving them 30 days to do something like paint their house or replace their garage door.  These things cost thousands of dollars, and there's no reason to only give people 30 days of notice.

A Better Policy

We propose the following guidelines:

1. Notices with an expected cost over $200 must have at least a 3 month deadline.
2. Notices with an expected cost over $500 must have at least a 6 month deadline.
3. Notices with an expected cost over $1000 must have at least a 12 month deadline.
4. Deadlines must be reset if the house changes ownership.

And above all, a guiding principle to prefer talking to homeowners and discussing the problem over sending notices.
